Being a Sec4 really changes things, doesn't it.

I used to think there'll always be time on our hands, but now it's running out. Desperate times call for desperate measures. There are quite a few things I need to tie up, so many things I have to do before the year's over and we all graduate to rjc. For the first time, I am starting the year with the end in mind. I know precisely what I want to achieve, what I want to take away from the 4 years of experience in rg. For the first time, perhaps, I seriously want to embrace every minute of the next few months before I start regretting it.

When I was in Sec1, I thought I could be a master of my own fate. Now, I seriously doubt it.

Now is the dramatic moment of fate, Watson, when you hear a step upon the stair which is walking into your life, and you know not whether for good or ill.

They say The bitterest tragic element in life to be derived from an intellectual source is the belief in a brute Fate or Destiny.

But I feel that fate is something I have no control over.

It lies not in our power to love, or hate,

For will in us is over-rul'd by fate.

That's probably why I feel that I am bound by fate, sealed in my own destiny.

It's tragic, isn't it. What's more, there's no armour against fate. And so I shall just wait for the arrival of my fate.

Talking so much about fate in such an abstract way, now I shall speak of something closer to heart.

Just had my first philosophy lesson of the year. Since the class was splitted up as usual, Mr Lorenzo (what a cool name!) took the first half and Mr John Fenulas (sp?) took the second, we the behind people went on with Mr John. Anyway, he's 408's CLET, and apparently he taught Philo at university level (he taught in Rome for a period of time), and worked under some ambassador, so now he's teaching us. Yea. He has an Italian accent I presume, and according to Nancy and others, it's 'cute'. Hmm. Well yeah he's kind of gentlemanly and nice. (: So thumbs up to him! Haha the 'Mama' thing was quite funny. Oops no offence. (: He called Nancy ZAO. Haha! So matrix-ish. And my name kinda evolved into 'SHIN'. Hey I think it's cool! Shin sounds so Goong and MayDay! Ok I'll go by Shin now, not oneheart, from this second onwards.

Then we had a free block to slack off our time, then assembly, rs, biology. Ms Lee Tien looks like a nice woman, but she HAD to test us on our bio knowledge, which is, for me, practically zero. I just dumped all my knowledge into the dustbin. Eeps dustbin? Haha pun intended.

Today some things just clicked in me. Only one thing actually matters. That is to study hard. and get good grades. I lost out in that the previous year, so I have to make up for it this year, though it's probably too late already, since it's the last year I am spending in this school. You know, I feel like smashing my head or something. I have to say it's my own fault, can blame no one. Hence, maybe I should change. That may not change things, but at least I have made an effort. I have done all these for a being, so that being should be feeling honoured for that? Besides, I may have probably saved myself on the way. So I should thank that being's existence instead, to make me realize so many things, to strive for excellence.


I hope I'll not eat my words. I'll come back a month later, and I'll see how much I've done by then.
