Swallowed in the Sea. Coldplay. It just oozes with Jack/Liz.

You cut me down a tree
And brought it back to me
And that's what made me see
Where I was going wrong
You put me on a shelf
And kept me for yourself
I can only blame myself
You can only blame me

And I could write a song
A hundred miles long
Well, that's where I belong
And you belong to me

And I could write it down
Or spread it all around
Get lost and then get found
Or swallowed in the sea

You put me on a line
And hung me out to dry
And darling that's when I
Decided to go to see you

You cut me down to size
And opened up my eyes
Made me realize
What I could not see

And I could write a book
The one they'll say that shook
The world, and then it took
It took it back from me

And I could write it down
Or spread it all around
Get lost and then get found
And you'll come back to me
Not swallowed in the sea

Ooh...

And I could write a song
A hundred miles long
Well, that's where I belong
And you belong with me

The streets you're walking on
A thousand houses long
Well, that's where I belong
And you belong with me

Oh what good is it to live
With nothing left to give
Forget but not forgive
Not loving all you see

Oh the streets you're walking on
A thousand houses long
Well that's where I belong
And you belong with me
Not swallowed in the sea

You belong with me
Not swallowed in the sea
Yeah, you belong with me
Not swallowed in the sea

Want to join our Jack/Liz shipper family? Or going crazy about Johnny Depp? Then just click on some links found in my Links section.

Anyway. Today NPCC was cancelled, and after a ten-minutes briefing regarding next week's rafting, Yan, Lynette, Ling and I went Scotts to have lunch. The three of us, except Ling, had Pasta Mania. Ling had her dumplings.

Anyway, I wanted to go to this CD shop at the basement, and so we all went there. While browsing through the DVDs, this Leonardo DiCapiro show called Gangs of New York caught me attention. So while bending down to take a good look saw this From Hell DVD right beside it. I flash of recognition hit me, and I picked up the DVD, one of Johnny Depp's many movies! I was extremely excited ok, because it really looked nice and dark, and the price seemed reasonable. [Actually I don't care, I just want to watch the movie] So you can understand how crushed I was when one of the workers there pointed out to me it's M18. Totally saddened, we left the shop. Then Lynette was suggesting about me going up to some random adult to ask him/her to help me buy. After discussing for a long while, we decided to have a shot. So Lynette and I walked up to a Malay female and asked her if she would do it for us (me), and she looked so shocked/bewildered and hurriedly walked off, with a incredulous expression on her face, making us looked like total fools. Her boyfriend glared at us as they went off. Freaky experience. I decided to give up and put my trust on either Linlin, for her to grow older soon to reach 18, or on Joycelyn, who's so willing to help me! Thank you very much, Joycelyn! You rock!

Yeah. What an experience, right? So after that Yan came over and we Auditioned. After that, I went for my dental appointment, and ended up crapping alot with one of the nice ladies working there. We talked about absolutely everything kay! She really kept me entertained through the wait. We talked about chinese orchestra (she was in CO too in her school days, and her kids are in CO as well), politics, education systems, life, parenting and so on. Extremely delightful experience. After that, during the checkup, I was laughing my way through. Hehh. I am in a good mood hehe.

After I reached home and went on MSN, Alice told me her friend just (like today) recieved a Johnny Depp autograph! I was so so so amazed, and still am. GOSH. JOHNNY DEPP K. LIKE THE BESTEST GUY IN THE WORLD. oops. Yeah he was really nice and gave me many tips on how to get an autograph from him too. Hmm. Shall try tomorrow. I'll get the stamps after school. Or overturn the house. Hmm.

I think Octopus [totally NOT related to Nancy] is actually quite an amazing person. Octie is really really nice, as I found out today. Maybe I should not be so biased towards Oct.

On the other hand. ZZ is nice as well. Mm since last week? And today just confirmed it.

Hehh.

Tomorrow is teachers' day. For some reason, I am feeling exceedingly excited about it. Maybe because of all the fun Sec1 teachers' day brought about. Yeah to Tian Xia Suo You de Lao Shi (To each and every teacher in our tiny island), HAPPY (early) TEACHERS' DAY! (: Remember, I said it first.

Philosophy?
Tuesday, August 29, 2006

I think I am getting really philosophical these days. I can't go by one day without treating someone with a long philosophical discussion, be it on existance or skepticism or why we should not study. A few days ago I was crapping to Lin all about existance and skepticism, and today, I told my mum all about the reason for studying and why we all should just stop studying during dinner. Both Lin and my mum were so irritated with me. Ha.

Philosophy can be quite fun. I think I enjoy the topic on skepticim very much, because I found myself wondering about the exact things many times previously in my life. Things like: Is it air I am breathing? Am I seeing what is actually there? How do we know blue is blue and not red or brown or black? Am I living in a dream world? (You are living in a dream world, Neo) Who knows how I actually look like? Do I even know how I look like? Is this a dream? Or an illusion? Am I alive? Do I even exist? What if I am like Fox Mulder's sister, Sam, captured by aliens and they did some experiments on me? Urgh.

You know, I often feel that I am dreaming, or living in subconsciousness. I often think I live in an alternate universe or something. Like the whole universe/milky ways/solar systems thing does not sound right to me. I think there's something more, something else beyond this vast expense of endless eternity. Perhaps there's an end to this. The End of the Universe.

Which is kind of crappy, because I dreamt about it. The whole universe thing. I dreamt about something similar to Star Wars, but it is sort of weird because I never watched Star Wars before in my whole life. I don't know how it happened. It just did.

Or did I imagine the dream? Perhaps I did not dream about the dream in the first place. Curious thing, the mind. We can never really understand how a brain works, because how do we know we're looking at a brain in the first place? Perhaps it's just some metal thing our sensory organs percieve as brains. And it goes back to where I started off from, huhh? Kinda freaky, if you think it through. Now do you think you are part of a dream? Part of an elaborate conspiracy by the aliens to take over the Earth? How do we know where we are is the Earth? What are aliens anyway? What if the Earth is really flat, won't that overthrow Newton's law of gravity?

Brain overload huhh.

Let's talk about something else. Like, for example, Math. Math is not something that's really there, you can neither see nor feel it. It is not literally on the surface of the Earth (taking that the Earth does exist in how I percieve it to be), it's just principles and ideas that some crazy people came up with. Heck about Math. Without its existance, it's not the end of the world. Yes, it is important, but some people can't see what's so great about a thing that's invisible and not there. Math is built up from lots and lots of assumptions from scratch by early Mathematicians. What if one day one of the 'assumptions' is proven wrong, that won't everything we've studied as a human race just falls through?
Anyone feeling the same as I do?

Ok I am just rambling. Most of what I've typed may not make any sense anyway. I am not coherant with my ideas at all, because I am doing what I am doing because I am just bored. Haha like what MrT (is it?) said, when you are bored you'll start to ask questions and try to find answers to such questions. So here I am.

~.~.~.~.~.~

Ok I am listening to Coldplay's Swallowed in the Sea now. It's one of the official Jack/Liz ship song, after one of the most popular Jack/Liz fanvids on youtube. Earlier on I was listening to Busted's What I Go to School For.

Yesterday during physics prac Sarah and I were singing some random songs and changed some lyrics to suit our taste better. One of which is BSB's Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely. I know I've said this zillions of times, but this is absolutely my favourite song since my craze over X-files a few years back, thanks to a Mulder/Scully fanvid. Yayy. Second in running should be their song Climbing the Walls from their Never Gone album, then perhaps Swallowed in the Sea? Encore/Numb? CSI NY theme song? LOL. Was irritating Lin during Math today by singing that Pirates' 'Drink to my hearties Yo Ho Yo Ho a pirate's life for me' song. Oh well. JD rocks.

Countdown. 8 more mths to POTC: At World's End. Rock on Johnny Depp.

Finally a new blog skin.

Since... last year?

Actually, this is my second blog, and I've been using it since sec 1. As for my blogskin, I've only changed it 4 times since I had the blog. First was the bear with a heart, then the 'whenever I try to fly I'll fall without my wings' purple skin, after that was the Attitude skin, before this jack/liz/will skin. Welcome to snowhavens V4.

Hmm actually I'll prefer a purely Johnny Depp skin, or at least a jack/liz skin to delight the shipper in me, but for now this skin will have to make do. It looks clean and rather nice looking, even though Orli's Will spoils it all for me. Urgh.

I think the next time I am going to change a skin will be quite a long time later. Maybe I'll get a Maple skin. Or a Keanu skin. Or a Linkin Park skin. Or a CSI skin!! Haha. Or perhaps a Johnny Depp skin with his Mort Rainey, Donnie Brasco, Jack Sparrow, Raoul, J.M. Barrie, Willy Wonka, Gilbert Grape, Agent Sands, Victor, Edward.. That'll be nice. Maybe I'll start work on it tomorrow or something.

Teachers' Day is coming. I am kind of excited, you know? Those pre-holidays excitement.

Bought Secret Window today. It's PG! (: One of the few PG Depp movies around. Hmm. I want to get my hands on a copy of Donnie Brasco or Once upon a Time in Mexico. That'll be hard to get, because I reckon they'll be R21 or something, because of the gore, explicit images and lots of profanities used. Great job, Hollywood. Violence, hehh.

Talking about violence. I think I grossed out my audience during English Orals, thanks to me discussing about people with body parts cut off, intenstines dug out, eye balls dug off (Thanks to Once Upon a Time in Mexico forgiving me the idea, Agent Sands rocks with his eyes gone and blood flowing down his face. Really. Nice. Yummy.), symbols carved all over the body (thanks to harry bosch books, and the violence-filled websites I visited whikle researching for ideas for my speech). Hehh. I think I am becoming crude and start lovin' bloody gory stuff even more than before, partially due to [thanks Johnny] Depp's movies I've been watching for the past few weeks. I think I am on a Depp movies craze or something. I've watched around 14? or so Depp movies for the past 2 weeks. Ahh.

Pirates (I/II)
Secret Window
Finding Neverland
Donnie Brasco
OUATIM
Sleepy Hollow
Ed Wood
Edward Scissorhands
What's Eating Gilbert Grape
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Chocolat
Corpse Bride
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Listening to Pussycat Dolls Feat Will.I.Am's Beep. Haha.

Wishlist:
HBP (my snape..)
she's the man
the pianist
V for V
Spirited Away (Hate my Eng version)

Ok shall get back to my life. [paul de hairdresser from she's the man rocks]

Bullshit movies
Saturday, August 19, 2006

There are some movies in the world that just make you think, ‘Woah that’s utter bullshit.’ The Breakup is one such movie. The Wild is another. Crappy plot, boring lines, an ending that makes you feel cheated of your money. During the movie, I repeatedly asked myself, ‘Why am I here?’ My money. My $9.50.

What is the moral of the story? I don’t know, because I don’t see any real meaning in the movie. The supposedly most touching scene made me laugh like mad, because the lines were so forced and cliché. In all, it is a brainless popcorn gig.

You know, sometimes I wonder why a movie such as The Breakup has around the same ratings as great movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean. The latter was a meaningful piece of masterpiece, filled with hilarious dialogues, quirky lines, swashbuckling actions and a slightly absurd but highly entertaining plot. An added bonus: Johnny Depp was wonderful. He is great. He is such a genius. He is phenomenal. Plus, he is cute and cool.

So there I was, with YanYee, Shihua and Ee Lyn at Lido, after Speech Day GOH. Oh! I SAW AN AUTOGRAPHED POSTER OF JOHNNY DEPP FRAMED AND DISPLAYED OUTSIDE LIDO 1 CINEMA!!! Saw it while walking past the cinema, after buying the tickets, and recognized him right away from afar. It’s a good thing. It means I would actually recognize him if I ever managed to see him in person. Anyway, you can imagine how excited I was. We walked past his picture 3 times in all, because of me. YanYee Eelyn Shihua they all commented that he looks rather different from his photograph. It’s true, but he looks different all the time! I mean look at the picture of his 20+/30+ self! Those who are not hardcore fans of his will not be able to point out that that’s him.[Such as early interviews of him (They are black and white! Imagine how early those are!), What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Edward Scissorhands, and even some of his early pictures.] He used to look so boyish! Now he seems much more mature. Come on, he’s almost the same age as my parents. His ever changing features plus his versatile acting makes him one of the best actors of his generation. Seriously. He is that good. I mean, nowadays looks and talent does not equate to eat other. Depp is the exception, of course. He is just so great. Just that to prove he’s no pretty boy, he actually likes to act those roles that sort of conceal his features. For example, Edward Scissorhands, Willy Wonka, Jack Sparrow and so on. But I am digressing. Back to the autographed picture. He wrote there, in his beautiful handwriting, ‘Best wishes to Shaw’s Lido Cineplex!’ followed but his really, really, really beautiful signature. It was the best signature I’ve ever seen. Seriously. Very artistic, very curvy. So I took two pictures of it. Then I was telling the others, one day maybe I should go and rob the cinema or something, and take away the autographed picture and the giant Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man Chest’s giant Jack movie promotional poster. Of course I was joking. But it’ll be nice if I get the chance to go to one of his movie premiere or something, jostle with the crowd, getting an autograph plus a handshake with him. That’ll make me die in peace. So back to reality… I was really delighted after seeing the autographed picture, and was on a high mood, even till now.

I think it was fun talking with Shihua Ee Lyn and Yan Yee about plans for NPCC. We just talked about PT, games and so on, plus other uniform groups. Just have to say, RGNPCC has a long way to go, man. A long, long way to go. But hopefully, we’ll get there one day, and we, as the first batch of RGNPCC Sea, live to see the day.
Rewind. Let’s go back to Speech Day rehearsal. It was quite tiring standing there, and after a while I could not feel my toes. The soles of my feet burn like hell, and I was pretty sure at that time that there’ll be a burnt hole on my socks or something. Being paranoid. And I was quite pleased to see/hear so many people walking past us saying nice things about us, such as ‘RGNPCC? Really smart uniform!’ or ‘This is RGNPCC! New unit!’. Especially the science teacher (I think. The same guy on Weds when the foreigners came to our school) was telling us our uniform looks great, and Waiky was like ‘Hey say thanks Sir!’, so I finally came to my senses and said ‘Thanks Sir!’, but he was long gone.

Hmm commenting on teachers’ dress sense. Mr. Ng was wearing his usual combination of black pants white shirt, Miss Lim (our form teacher) wore red, Mr. Lau our Chemistry teacher (the really random and amusing one ) wore this really nice tie (Both Ying Ching aka Waiky and Chen Hoon were like gushing ‘I love his tie! His tie is so cool!’ Yes I agree with them completely. Nice tie!), running past us quite a few times. Then there were several others, like Ms. Tan, who was dressed up exceptionally femininely, Lu Lao Shi in his usual attire, and Dustbin in his usual red.

Afterwards, I went around the four video shops in the shopping centre near my house, trying to find out the price and availability of the Johnny Depp movies I wish to purchase. There are only three Depp movies found there, one is Pirates Curse of Black Pearl which I own, another is Finding Neverland, a try masterpiece, which comes in Code 1 and 3. The last one is Secret Window, a rather nice movie. I am quite sad though, couldn’t find Donnie Brasco and Once Upon a Time in Mexico, but both should be rated no lower than NC-16, with Donnie Brasco R or something, if uncensored. So maybe I should get it from some online shop like Amazon or something? Or maybe I should just forget about it. (Ah reminds me of the ‘Forget about it’ lines in Donnie Brasco.) Or wait till I am able to sustain a living all by myself. Then I’ll splurge on Johnny items.

1058 words till now. Woah. Ok I shall stop for today. I’ll try to change my blogskin, update the links and post the Depp autograph picture on the net some day. I hope.

Tests are coming. PTs are coming. Back to writing my speech. Mugger-mode. Bye.

Depp movies I've watched so far.. In order of preference.

1. Pirates of the Caribbean (1 and 2)

2. Finding Neverland (One of his best movies ever. Depp was great as J.M.Barrie. Oh and I love his accent. (: The film was so touching! Freddie was fabulous as young Peter. The ending was so sad! Yes, I cry whenever I watch the conversation between James Barrie and Peter.

Quotes from Finding Neverland

Peter Llewelyn Davies: It's just, I thought she'd always be here.
J.M. Barrie: So did I. But in fact, she is, because she's on every page of your imagination. You'll always have her there. Always.
Peter Llewelyn Davies: But why did she have to die?
J.M. Barrie: I don't know, boy. When I think of your mother, I will always remember how happy she looked sitting there in the parlor watching a play about her family, about her boys that never grew up. She went to Neverland and you can visit her any time you like if you just go there yourself.
Peter Llewelyn Davies: How?
J.M. Barrie: By believing, Peter. Just believe.

Peter Llewelyn Davies: [pause] I can see her now.

J.M. Barrie: It seems to me that Peter's trying to grow up too fast. I imagine he thinks that grown-ups don't hurt as deeply as children do when they... when they lose someone. I lost my older brother David when I was just Peter's age, and it nearly destroyed my mother.
Sylvia Llewelyn Davies: James, I'm so sorry. Your poor mother. I can't imagine losing a child.
J.M. Barrie: She didn't get out of bed for months, she wouldn't eat. I tried everything to make her happy but she only wanted David. So one day I dressed myself in David's clothing and I went to her.
Sylvia Llewelyn Davies: You must have frightened her to death.
J.M. Barrie: I think it was the first time she ever actually looked at me, and that was the end of the boy James. I used to say to myself he'd gone to Neverland.
Sylvia Llewelyn Davies: Where?
J.M. Barrie: Neverland. It's a wonderful place... I've not spoken about this before to anyone- ever.
Sylvia Llewelyn Davies: What's it like, Neverland?
J.M. Barrie: One day I'll take you there.

J.M. Barrie: You needn't steal my journal to get to know me, Mary.
Mary Ansell Barrie: No, I suppose I could just go see the plays. I was hopelessly naive when I married you. I imagined that brilliant people disappeared to some secret place where good ideas floated around like leaves in autumn, and I hoped at least once you would take me there with you.
J.M. Barrie: There is no such place.
Mary Ansell Barrie: Yes there is: Neverland.

Michael Llewelyn Davies: Excuse me, sir, you're standing on my sleeve.
J.M. Barrie: [moves his foot and looks down to face Michael] Am I? So sorry. I might point out you're lying under my bench.

J.M. Barrie: Young boys should never be sent to bed... they always wake up a day older.

Jack Llewelyn Davies: [Michael tries to fly the kite the first time] Oh, I told you this wasn't going to work!
Peter Llewelyn Davies: I don't think he's fast enough.
J.M. Barrie: It's not going to work if no-one believes in him!

J.M. Barrie: [discussing Sylvia's reluctance to accept her illness] They can see it, you know. You can't go on just pretending.
Sylvia Llewelyn Davies: Just pretending? You brought pretending into this family, James. You showed us we can change things by simply believing them to be different.
J.M. Barrie: A lot of things, Sylvia. Not everything.
Sylvia Llewelyn Davies: But the things that matter. We've pretended for some time now that you're a part of this family, haven't we? You've come to mean so much to us all that now, it doesn't matter if it's true. And even if it isn't true, even if that can never be... I need to go on pretending... until the end... with you.

Michael Llewelyn Davies: [about J.M. Barrie] Can we have him for supper?
Sylvia Llewelyn Davies: Have him to stay for supper, Michael. We're not cannibals.

Peter Llewelyn Davies: I'm not Peter Pan.
[points at J. M. Barrie]
Peter Llewelyn Davies: He is.

J.M. Barrie: [watching George react to the knowledge that his mother is seriously ill] Magnificent. The boy is gone. In the last 30 seconds... you became a grown-up.

J.M. Barrie: Listen, what would you think of loaning Emma out to the Davies' for the occasional evening? They don't actually have a cook.
Mary Ansell Barrie: I take it Mrs. Davies enjoyed the meal she had here?
J.M. Barrie: I imagine she could use an extra hand now and again, that's all.
Mary Ansell Barrie: Oh, that's very charitable of you. Perhaps we can send over some of the silver as well... and what about linen? I wouldn't be surprised if some of hers was looking a bit shabby.
J.M. Barrie: Please, Mary, stop.
Mary Ansell Barrie: Maybe she can send over some of the things we've run short on. My husband, for example. We rarely see him in this house.
J.M. Barrie: That hasn't seemed to bother you for some time now.

J.M. Barrie: [gives him a journal] Here you go.
Peter Llewelyn Davies: What's this?
J.M. Barrie: All great writers begin with a good leather binding and a respectable title. Open it.
Peter Llewelyn Davies: [reads] "The Boy Castaways: Being a record of the terrible adventures of the brothers Davies, faithfully set forth by Peter Llewelyn Davies."
J.M. Barrie: Kipling would swallow his own ear for a title like that!
Peter Llewelyn Davies: I still have no idea what to write.
J.M. Barrie: Write about anything. Write about your family, write about the talking whale!
Peter Llewelyn Davies: What whale?
J.M. Barrie: The one that's trapped in your imagination and desperate to get out.

J.M. Barrie: You find a glimmer of happiness in this world, there's always someone who wants to destroy it.

J.M. Barrie: That... is Neverland.

Smee: [backstage] I just want you to know, I think you're a wonderful dog.
Nana The Dog: Thanks.

Sorry can't help it. Finding Neverland is such a wonderful movie.

3. Donnie Brasco (I think he's just so cool inside the show! Especially towards the end when he was back in the FBI. He looked so.. normal. Which = total coolness. Oh he is Donnie btw. Lefty is Al Pacino. An ingenius performance by Johnny Depp. Gotta lurve him.)

[Lefty is cooking dinner]
Lefty: Punch of salt.
Donnie Brasco: Punch?
Lefty: Punch. Punch of salt.
Donnie Brasco: Punch or pinch?
Lefty: Punch, punch. Not pinch. What'd I say? I say pinch?
Donnie Brasco: Nah, you said... you said punch.
Lefty: Sometimes you don't make no fuckin' sense, Donnie.

FBI Technician: What's forget about it?
Donnie Brasco: Forget about it is like if you agree with someone, you know, like Raquel Welch is one great piece of ass, forget about it. But then, if you disagree, like A Lincoln is better than a Cadillac? Forget about it! you know? But then, it's also like if something's the greatest thing in the world, like mingia those peppers, forget about it. But it's also like saying Go to hell! too. Like, you know, like "Hey Paulie, you got a one inch pecker?" and Paulie says "Forget about it!" Sometimes it just means forget about it.

Joe Pistone: All my life I've tried to be the good guy, the guy in the white fucking hat. And for what? For nothing. I'm not becoming like them; I am them.

Lefty: There's the boss. And, under him, there's the skipper. You know how this works?
Donnie Brasco: Yeah, it's like in the army.
Lefty: Bullshit. The army is some guy you don't know telling you to go whack some other guy you don't know.

4. Once Upon a Time in Mexico (Another really cool movie. Not to spoil everything, but he rocked as a crazy CIA agent with his eyes dug out.. blood flowing down his face.)

5. Ed Wood (Brilliant movie. Really.)

6. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Ahh Willy Wonka..)

7. Edward Scissorhands (Extremely sad and touching ending! A very old film by Depp. He's just so cute in it. Haha. A boy with scissors as hands. One of his best works.)

8. Corpse Bride (I figured he has two kinds of voices. One is the higher kind he used in Corpse Bride and Edward Scissorhands. Another one is his more normal voice, used in Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Pirates, Finding Neverland, Donnie Brasco.. What's Eating Gilbert Grape and so on.)

9. What's Eating Gilbert Grape (A really, really old show. Not bad, I guess. But his hair was too long! Leonardo is wonderful as Depp's Gilbert Grape's mentally retarded brother. Nice movie, overall. But my problem with it is the female lead. She's plain ugly. Disgustingly ugly.)

10. Sleepy Hollow (Ok larh. Lots of weird weird things happening. Which is no surprise since it's a Tim Burton movie.)

11. Chocolat

12. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Hilarious.)

Really, I know this has been said so many times, but he is simply a genius. Rocks.

Ok NOW I shall start talking about the M16 shooting. It was rather ok, the gun was lighter than I thought, we were laughing like mad, Esther Pang was funny, I was tricked by Lynette, bullied by Esther, laughed with the rest. Ahh I love the HQ (Home Team Academy). And all the different bases. They are fun to go to! (: [Oh remember the 'particular' and 'personalized training'? Haha. Hardoo hoo!]

After NP, we went home by MRT. Once I reached home I started doing my computer stuff, until 8.15 I went over to Yan Yee's house to attempt polish my boots. It was really tiring and difficult blearghh. My shoe polish made my boots even duller than before! But the metal polisher is good! It made my swimming badge extra shiny. Ahh. In the end even her brother came to help us polish. But it's so time consuming and irritating.

Haha ok this happened quite a few days ago, but last Sat, Sun, Mon and Tues, I tried to keep myself entertained by watching Johnny's movies, watching his interview clips, and the MOST amusing thing is reading fans' encounter with Johnny Depp. It was just so funny ok! The way they descibed him! And how they started crying and trembling, then when Depp was in front of them, smiling at them and looking straight into their eyes, they were so overwhelmed that they were either speechless or started blabbering non-stop. Haha. Seriously man. The best was some girl meeting him at an airport, and some fans managed to get a hug/a kiss/both with him. Actually, I think if I were to see him in person, I'll just go totally crazy. Like scream like mad (which says something, because I never scream)/tremble/cry (oh now I sound like a cry-baby. ahh another Depp's movie! A man who cried. Cry-Baby. 2 of Depp's movies!)/demand an autograph. Gee. Now everybody knows I love Johnny Depp. Ahh. Truly a Depp Impact.

Anyway, I was also very amused by Terry Rossio's blog, (Terry is one of the two scriptwriters for Pirates of the Caribbean all three movies, plus Shrek2 I think. The other one is called Ted Elliot. Both are wonderful people who actually reply to posts in some popular Pirates of the Caribbean discussion boards.) which details many interesting things happening on the set of POTC shooting. Stuffs like actors getting sick, huricane attack, the Singapore Set for the third movie (sorry it's spoilers), their conversations during meals, how they came up with certain lines, and it's written with such humour that I couldn' stop laughing like mad.

For example.

Gore [The director of Pirates of the Caribbean] says, the night before, he woke up suddenly in the middle of the night, laughing at Johnny's delivery, "Where's the thump thump?"

Johhny says, "You know how I knew it was a good take? Trevor was laughing, guy who does pull focus, he's the hardest guy on the set ot make laugh. I know if I can get Trevor to even look away, or smile, I'm doing good."

Our favorite line we wrote for PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN is one we didn't write.

This is how it goes, some days, when you're a writer working on set of a major motion picture:

[...]

And this was the end shot of the movie, could we come up with a command that was interesting, meaningful, a bit more profound than "Back to work, Mates!"

Sure.

Ted went off to talk to the captain of one of the film's working ships, the Lady Washington, and try to scare up some authentic nautical commands. I went to find Depp and warn him that some new dialogue was coming. Johnny was cool with it, and even had suggestions -- as research for the role, he'd been reading stories of seafaring men, he said, so "How about something like, 'We venture forth over waves of adversity beneath clouds of adventure, always searching for that elusive shore of our dreams...?'"

"Right," I said... "Uh, something just like that. We're working on it."

[...] We all liked the phrase, "To stations! Let go, and haul to run free!" I particularly liked the 'run free' part, it seemed appropriate for Depp's character, who considered his ship a symbol of freedom.

So we run that line past Gore, he stares off into the distance, says "I dunno, I get kind of a BORN FREE vibe out of that, maybe something else?"

[...]

Now I will always remember this:

We hear a shout, look over, and there's Johnny Depp racing toward us full speed from the make-up trailers, only half in costume, waving a piece of paper over his head. He's shouting -- I kid you not -- "I've got it! Got it!"

He races full speed toward the gangplank, and let me tell you something about gangplanks, they're not very sturdy. Whenever we went across the production was careful to have a sailor on either end, one to help you on, the other to help you down onto the ship.

Depp wasn't waiting for that -- he bounded onto the gangplank, it bounced him into the air, and light as a feather he came down on it, bounced up again, and landed gracefully on deck. Hey, that's why he gets the big bucks. He comes up to us, breathless, says "I got it." and shows us the paper.

Well, with a build-up like that, from your major star, you'd better hope that it's good. We look at the paper, and beneath a bunch of crossed-off efforts, it says --

"Bring me that horizon!"

Ted and I look at each other.

"That's pretty good," Ted says.

Hell, it was really good. We put it together with the previous line and it sounded great, "Let go and haul to run free! Bring me that horizon!"

We took it to Gore. He thought about it for all of half a second, said "That's pretty good. That's really good." Now he even liked the 'run free' lead-in, too.

[...]

As of this writing, I don't know if the movie is good, or if the lines made it in, or even if they work the way they should. But if the film is good, it's fun to think that the final line of the film was written the day it was shot.

I hope it does work.

I hope the movie is great.

Because I've got something pinned above my desk. The scrap of paper Depp was waving as he raced out of the trailer, that he wrote the line on --

I kept it, of course.

It has our favorite line in the movie -- one we didn't even write!

Haha HILARIOUS right. So funny.

It is Terry Rossio's copywrite, rmbr. :D

Tomorrow is GOH. I am exhausted.

Hello everybody. If anybody still read me blog, that is.

It’s been awfully long since I last blogged, and actually, I did try once before, but my post was, sadly, gone. My life has changed quite a lot since then. Boy, it is just a month! And look at me now.

I think what’s certainly life-changing is actually, Pirates of the Caribbean. A really wonderful movie, I have to assure you, if you never watch them. Bam! Curse of Black Pearl shown on Channel 5 (for the first time in my life... thank you Mediacorp). Bam! Watched Dead Man Chest the week after with Jiahui, Jasmine, Ling. Bam! Watched it again the same week, this time with Sarah, Linlin and Chenhoon. Bam Bam! Went to all the Pirates fan sites and discussion boards there are in the net, joined many Johnny Depp fanlisting. Purchased CotBP collector’s edition. Wham! Started watching all the Depp movies available.

So tada! Here I am, a huge Johnny Depp fan, Pirates fan, Jack/Liz shipper. Woots.

Movies I have watched in this month:

Pirates of the Caribbean Curse of the Black Pearl: Millions of times
Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man’s Chest: Twice. But I am watching it again some time soon.
Finding Neverland: Thrice. A really fabulous piece of work. Extremely touching. Cried at the end of it all. Oh and he’s great in it. Absolutely.
Edward Scissorhands: Once. Sad ending! Poor, poor Ed.
Sleepy Hollow: Am watching now. He looks ancient. ):
Corpse Bride: His voice sounds weird. Haha.
High School Musical: Twice. Pathetic, I know. Rather good soundtrack, I think.
Click: Once. Haha. Duck! Doggy.
Scary Movie 4: Once. It was so, so lame. Sushi, Sashimi! Judo, Sumo, Samurai! (:
Mr and Mrs Smith. Again, yes I know.
Lots of CSI New York
Some CSI Miami
A little Numb3rs

Hehh I am dying from my workload. Seriously. I don’t know why I am still blogging now.

week 8:
Physics SPA
Chinese PT
Math Assignment
Orals outline

week 9:
Orals
Math TEST

Sigh life is terrible, isn't it.
week 10:
Orals

AHH!!!
