A Date with Spring
Was watching Date with Spring [Wo He Chun Tian You Ge Yue Hui] for the past few days. I know I am supposed to be revising for the EOYs, but that show is just so fabulous that I can't stop watching it.
The reason I started watching the show was because Kwong Wah was in it. You know, that Rong Hao Dong in Riches and Stitches. The show came on like more than a decade ago, so it's really really old, and Kwong Wah looked really young!
Anyway, the show's about four girls singing in a theatre. Three of them managed to do so through a singing contest, and the four of them became really really good friends. Each one of them had at least one lover, and the main character in the show, a girl called xiao die [little butterfly] liked a talented musician called JiaHao [acted by Kwong Wah].
Their relationship was so weird, but extremely sweet!! They did not started off well, but JiaHao really cared for her despite everything happening around them. Finally, one day JiaHao told her he's going overseas and promised her he'll be back three years later.
Three years passed, and he never returned. By that time, Xiao Die was already a megastar, but because of the broken promise, she decided to quit singing and went to Canada. Twenty years later, she came back, and out the three friends she had, only one survived. The theatre was going to be demolished, so XiaoDie was invited to sing for the last time on that stage. While she was singing, JiaHao came. But XiaoDie could never forgive him. The ending was so sad! Couldn't stop crying. The whole story is just so sad. Ahh. Especially when he sold the song he wrote for XiaoDie to a very rich lady to pay off his best friend's debts, when he left for America and gave Xiao Die a song he composed, called A Date with Spring. And in the last episode, when his apprentice told XiaoDie that JiaHao kept all the pictures and articles of her when he was in America all those 20 years, and when he went back to the theatre he had an illusion of XiaoDie singing on stage while he played the saxophone, tears just came naturally.
Dang. Both of them loved each other so much, but could not be together. Sigh. She wasted twenty years of her life for him. Such a pity. This is really a nice show. I am having goose bumps just listening to XiaoDie singing the theme song 'Date with Spring'.
But their relationship was also the sweetest, even though it ended off so tragic. Still remember the first time they met. Haha XiaoDie was so innocent and cute at first, mistaking JiaHao as a pervert. Lol. [The Se Lang and the Zhu Sheng Gua.] Then there was the night they spent together at the balcony, and all the happy times together when she moved to an apartment on top of JiaHao’s. It was so sweet, because all those times, JiaHao never once said he loved her, but showed so much care for her nonetheless. When she was in danger, he was so worried and saved her. Omgish sweet. [Plus that hug and the kiss that was cut. Dang the producers.] The newspaper cuttings of her he left in his room, and a birthday card he never did manage to give to her. But why! Why did he leave her in HK? He was so mean to her! JiaHao was nice to everyone except her. I wanted to cry for her, but I pitied JiaHao too, so I cried for both.

Oh and there was the scandal. The same thing in the show apparently happened in the reality as well. Can you imagine the pain the two of them went through? Sad right.
I cried 20+ times watching the show. It’s really worth watching, though it’s an oldie. So go watch after the EOYs!
