Bullshit movies

There are some movies in the world that just make you think, ‘Woah that’s utter bullshit.’ The Breakup is one such movie. The Wild is another. Crappy plot, boring lines, an ending that makes you feel cheated of your money. During the movie, I repeatedly asked myself, ‘Why am I here?’ My money. My $9.50.
What is the moral of the story? I don’t know, because I don’t see any real meaning in the movie. The supposedly most touching scene made me laugh like mad, because the lines were so forced and cliché. In all, it is a brainless popcorn gig.
You know, sometimes I wonder why a movie such as The Breakup has around the same ratings as great movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean. The latter was a meaningful piece of masterpiece, filled with hilarious dialogues, quirky lines, swashbuckling actions and a slightly absurd but highly entertaining plot. An added bonus: Johnny Depp was wonderful. He is great. He is such a genius. He is phenomenal. Plus, he is cute and cool.
So there I was, with YanYee, Shihua and Ee Lyn at Lido, after Speech Day GOH. Oh! I SAW AN AUTOGRAPHED POSTER OF JOHNNY DEPP FRAMED AND DISPLAYED OUTSIDE LIDO 1 CINEMA!!! Saw it while walking past the cinema, after buying the tickets, and recognized him right away from afar. It’s a good thing. It means I would actually recognize him if I ever managed to see him in person. Anyway, you can imagine how excited I was. We walked past his picture 3 times in all, because of me. YanYee Eelyn Shihua they all commented that he looks rather different from his photograph. It’s true, but he looks different all the time! I mean look at the picture of his 20+/30+ self! Those who are not hardcore fans of his will not be able to point out that that’s him.[Such as early interviews of him (They are black and white! Imagine how early those are!), What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Edward Scissorhands, and even some of his early pictures.] He used to look so boyish! Now he seems much more mature. Come on, he’s almost the same age as my parents. His ever changing features plus his versatile acting makes him one of the best actors of his generation. Seriously. He is that good. I mean, nowadays looks and talent does not equate to eat other. Depp is the exception, of course. He is just so great. Just that to prove he’s no pretty boy, he actually likes to act those roles that sort of conceal his features. For example, Edward Scissorhands, Willy Wonka, Jack Sparrow and so on. But I am digressing. Back to the autographed picture. He wrote there, in his beautiful handwriting, ‘Best wishes to Shaw’s Lido Cineplex!’ followed but his really, really, really beautiful signature. It was the best signature I’ve ever seen. Seriously. Very artistic, very curvy. So I took two pictures of it. Then I was telling the others, one day maybe I should go and rob the cinema or something, and take away the autographed picture and the giant Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man Chest’s giant Jack movie promotional poster. Of course I was joking. But it’ll be nice if I get the chance to go to one of his movie premiere or something, jostle with the crowd, getting an autograph plus a handshake with him. That’ll make me die in peace. So back to reality… I was really delighted after seeing the autographed picture, and was on a high mood, even till now.
I think it was fun talking with Shihua Ee Lyn and Yan Yee about plans for NPCC. We just talked about PT, games and so on, plus other uniform groups. Just have to say, RGNPCC has a long way to go, man. A long, long way to go. But hopefully, we’ll get there one day, and we, as the first batch of RGNPCC Sea, live to see the day.
Rewind. Let’s go back to Speech Day rehearsal. It was quite tiring standing there, and after a while I could not feel my toes. The soles of my feet burn like hell, and I was pretty sure at that time that there’ll be a burnt hole on my socks or something. Being paranoid. And I was quite pleased to see/hear so many people walking past us saying nice things about us, such as ‘RGNPCC? Really smart uniform!’ or ‘This is RGNPCC! New unit!’. Especially the science teacher (I think. The same guy on Weds when the foreigners came to our school) was telling us our uniform looks great, and Waiky was like ‘Hey say thanks Sir!’, so I finally came to my senses and said ‘Thanks Sir!’, but he was long gone.
Hmm commenting on teachers’ dress sense. Mr. Ng was wearing his usual combination of black pants white shirt, Miss Lim (our form teacher) wore red, Mr. Lau our Chemistry teacher (the really random and amusing one ) wore this really nice tie (Both Ying Ching aka Waiky and Chen Hoon were like gushing ‘I love his tie! His tie is so cool!’ Yes I agree with them completely. Nice tie!), running past us quite a few times. Then there were several others, like Ms. Tan, who was dressed up exceptionally femininely, Lu Lao Shi in his usual attire, and Dustbin in his usual red.
Afterwards, I went around the four video shops in the shopping centre near my house, trying to find out the price and availability of the Johnny Depp movies I wish to purchase. There are only three Depp movies found there, one is Pirates Curse of Black Pearl which I own, another is Finding Neverland, a try masterpiece, which comes in Code 1 and 3. The last one is Secret Window, a rather nice movie. I am quite sad though, couldn’t find Donnie Brasco and Once Upon a Time in Mexico, but both should be rated no lower than NC-16, with Donnie Brasco R or something, if uncensored. So maybe I should get it from some online shop like Amazon or something? Or maybe I should just forget about it. (Ah reminds me of the ‘Forget about it’ lines in Donnie Brasco.) Or wait till I am able to sustain a living all by myself. Then I’ll splurge on Johnny items.
1058 words till now. Woah. Ok I shall stop for today. I’ll try to change my blogskin, update the links and post the Depp autograph picture on the net some day. I hope.
Tests are coming. PTs are coming. Back to writing my speech. Mugger-mode. Bye.
